Troca buttons are made from Trochus shells, a type of sea snail found in tropical waters. They offer the look and feel of mother of pearl but at a more affordable price. These premium shell sewing buttons have a smooth, pearlescent finish and work well for both modern and classic garments.

We carry a wide variety of shell buttons, each crafted from different types of shellfish. These shellfish are sustainably sourced—used for food and animal feed—while the shells are upcycled for fashion. Most of our shell comes from farms in the Pacific and is sent to Italy for button production. Italian workers craft each button with care and earn a fair, livable wage.
